A Gem Gets Roughed
Oh, how the times change. But the more things change, the more they stay the same, right? Or something like that. In eras long since passed, the world had looked no different from your average fantasy novel, from the dragons who raided villages and captured princesses to the knight and sorcerers who banded together to fight them. But as the inexorable march of time ticked away, the world progressed forward. Spells were replaced by firearms and technology. Knights became soldiers and commandos. Dragons became airplanes. And, slowly but surely, the magic died out. Or did it? Truth be told, even in the modern era, there still exists some faint glimmers of the times that were, beings that embody the mystique and wonder of the bygone times.
